SUNDAY – Arrival

Arrive at Ben Gurion airport; CTO representative will meet you after passport control. Transfer to the hotel in Tel Aviv for check-in and overnight

MONDAY – Tel Aviv – Masada – Dead Sea
After breakfast at the hotel, check out from Tel Aviv, drive south. We will stop on the way for a great overview of the northern part of the Negev Desert. Continue via Arad to Masada; ascend by cable car to the fortress, which was the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their war against the Romans. Visit the excavations, Herod’s palaces, the synagogue, bathhouse, etc. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Roman camps and the Dead Sea.
Descend for a possible “float” in the salty water of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth.
At the end of the day we drive to Jerusalem, passing by Jericho, the oldest city in the world. Arrive at the hotel for check-in and overnight

TUESDAY – Jerusalem – New City sightseeing
Drive to Mt. Scopus for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Continue to the Israel Museum’s Shrine of the Book and the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, then a visit to the beautifully renovated model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem in Second Temple times.
Continue to Yad Vashem (the memorial to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust).
We will end our day with a visit to Ein Karem (the birthplace of John the Baptist).
Time permitting, we will visit “Machaneh Yehuda” market, one of the most charming market places in Israel where you will feel the special atmosphere of Jerusalem.
Back to the hotel for overnight

WEDNESDAY – Jerusalem – (Old City) – Bethlehem*
Walk through one of the gates of the walled Old City: the renewed Jewish Quarter; the Western Wall, the Temple area; the colorful bazaars; Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the Cross, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
Drive to Mt. Zion and visit the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey.
Proceed to the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Agony.
In the afternoon we will drive to Bethlehem*, visit the Church of the Nativity and return to Jerusalem for overnight.

THURSDAY – Beit Shean – Nazareth – Galilee
Check out after breakfast, drive north through the Jordan Valley and the new settlements to Beit Shean where we will visit the excavations of this beautiful preserved Roman City. Proceed to Nazareth to visit the Christian holy sites.
Continue to the Sea of Galilee, drive along the shores of the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue.
At the end of the day, drive to the kibbutz hotel for check-in and overnight.

FRIDAY – Upper Galilee and Safed
Drive to the Golan Heights. Visit the former Syrian fortifications, Druze villages, and Via Banias, the source of the Jordan River.
Proceed via the Hula Valley to Safed, city of the Kabbalah, to visit a synagogue and the artists’ colony.
Return to the Kibbutz hotel for overnight.

SATURDAY – Acre – Haifa – Caesarea – Eilat
Check out after breakfast, drive west to Acre for a visit to the famous Crusader stronghold and medieval fortifications.
Continue to Haifa, for a sightseeing tour, including the Baha’i Shrine, Persian Garden and Mount Carmel for a panoramic view of the city and the bay.
Proceed along the cost to Caesarea to visit the Roman Theater and the Crusader fortress.
Continue to Tel Aviv’s airport for a short flight to Eilat, the Red Sea resort. Upon arrival take a taxi to the hotel for overnight

SUNDAY – Petra day tour
After breakfast, transfer to the Arava border and cross to Jordan.
Drive to Petra through the scenic Jordanian desert and the Wadi Rum area. Enter the Rose City of Petra through the Siq, a narrow passage through the mountains that has inspired people for centuries. Up to the Treasury, which appears suddenly at the end of the gorge and leaves visitors stunned by its size, color and beauty. Continue into the heart of this ancient city carved into the mountains, passing hundreds of tombs and monuments and a spectacular Amphitheatre that once held 3,000 spectators. Stop for a sit down lunch, followed by a visit to Moses Spring before leaving Wadi Musa – the new town of Petra. Drive to Aqaba for a short city tour, return to the Arava border and cross back to Eilat for overnight. (Or evening flight back to Tel Aviv for overnight.)

MONDAY – Eilat – Tel Aviv for departure
Breakfast, own arrival to Eilat airport for departure flight to Tel Aviv (extended stay upon request).

11 Days & 10 Nights – Thursday arrival

Thursday – Tel Aviv
Arrive at Ben Gurion airport for the beginning of tour journey in the Holy Land. Upon arrival you will meet a CTO representative and be transferred to your hotel in Tel Aviv for check-in and overnight. (This text is different from the others)

Friday – Tel Aviv – Sea of Galilee – Tiberias
After breakfast meet your CTO tour guide at the hotel. We will start our journey with a short visit to the city of Jaffa (Joppa), where we will take a short walking tour in picturesque alleys of the old, fortified town. We’ll pass by the house of Simon the Tanner and marvel at the views from the hill top.
We drive up north along the coast to the archaeological ruins of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great in honor of Augustus Caesar.
Continue for a visit to Megiddo, where the book of Revelation mentions a great battle at the place called “Armageddon.” It is an ancient city inhabited continuously for more than five millennia (6000-500 B.C.).
At the end of the day we drive to the Sea of Galilee, arrive at Tiberias and check-in at your hotel for overnight.

Saturday – The Sea of Galilee
Start the day at historic Tiberias, where Jesus lived, sojourned, and preached on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. We will visit Capernaum, the center of Jesus ministry. Tabgha, just north of Tiberias, is the site of Christ’s miracle of feeding the 5,000 and at the Church of Multiplication the mosaic floor depicts a basket with loaves and two fishes.
We will drive on to the Mount of Beatitudes overlooking the sea, where Jesus preached the “Sermon on the Mount” and it is believed he picked his 12 apostles.
We ascend to the Golan Heights to view the panoramic view of the peaks of Mt. Hermon and the rugged plateau of the Golan Heights, and beneath it the green pastoral Hula valley.
Return to Tiberias for another lovely night in town.

Sunday – Sea of Galilee – Jordan River-Jerusalem
Check out from the hotel after breakfast. This morning we travel to Cana to visit the Wedding Church where Jesus performed his first miracle – turning water into wine.
We proceed to Nazareth, where Jesus spent his childhood, and the Church of Annunciation, built on the site where archaeologists believe the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary. Visit Mary’s Well and Joseph’s Church.
We continue through the Jordan Valley to Beit Shean with its recently excavated amphitheater, visit the excavations of this beautifully preserved Roman City, which was destroyed in an earthquake.
Ascend to Jerusalem through the Jordan Valley. On arrival drive, to the hotel in Jerusalem for check-in and overnight

Monday – Dead Sea and Masada
After an early breakfast, we drive through the remarkable scenery of the Dead Sea to Masada, which is situated on an isolated cliff in the Judean Desert. The site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Ascend by cable car to the fortress, which was the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their war against the Romans. Visit the excavations, King Herod’s palace, the synagogue, bathhouse and much more.
Drive to the site of the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Nearly 1,300 feet below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on the earth’s surface. We will end our day with a “float” on the salty, mineral rich water of the Dead Sea.
Return to Jerusalem for overnight.

Tuesday – Jerusalem Old City
Jerusalem is the holy city for the world’s three great religions – Christianity, Judaism and Islam – Jerusalem occupies a unique place in the world. We will visit the great sites in the Old City, the Mount of Olives, a stop at the site where Jesus first gave the Lord’s Prayer, and the Garden of Gethsemane where Judas betrayed Jesus. We will stop at the Western Wall and the actual site of the Second Temple, the Temple Mount. We will walk the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa, to Calvary and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, housing both the traditional site of the Crucifixion and the Tomb of the Resurrection. To the southwest, just outside the Old City, is Mount Zion, with the traditional tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper.

Wednesday – Jerusalem New City
We will start our day at Mt. Scopus with a spectacular panoramic view of Jerusalem.
We drive for a visit to Yad Vashem, the official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust established in 1953, located on the foot of Mt. Herzl.
We continue to Ein Karem, a picturesque village on the south western outskirts of Jerusalem. This small village has great significance in Christian tradition, since it is where, according to tradition, John the Baptist was born.
Visit the Israel Museum, which has a detailed model of Jerusalem from the time of the Second Temple and the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. Drive by the Knesset (House of Parliament) and the famous Supreme Court.
At the end of the day, time permitting, visit Bethlehem*, see Rachel’s Tomb and the Church of the Nativity.
At the end of the visit, back to the hotel for overnight.

Thursday – Jerusalem – Jerash – Amman
Check out after breakfast, drive to the Jordanian border (Sh. Hussein Bridge or Allenby Bridge). After border crossing procedures, meet your Jordanian tour guide and enter Jordan.
Drive to Jerash, City of the Decapolis, located about 45kms north of Amman in the fertile heights of Gilead. Visit the Roman city with colonnaded streets, the ancient theater, the baths and the hill top temple, the triumphal arch etc.
Continue drive to Amman for a city tour of the Jordanian capital.
At the end of the day we drive to the hotel in Amman for check-in and overnight

Friday – Amman – Madaba – Mt Nebo – Shobak – Petra
Check out after breakfast. Drive to Madaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holy Land and ruins of historical sites.
We continue to Mount Nebo, from where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Stop for an overview of the Jordan Valley, Jericho, and the Dead Sea etc.
Proceed via the Crusader castle, Shobak, to Wadi Musa, the modern village of Petra.
We arrive at Petra and check-in at the hotel for overnight.

Saturday – Petra – Amman
After breakfast, leave the hotel for an exciting day’s visit Petra.
We will start with a horseback ride to the “Siq” (Canyon); continue on foot to Petra known as “Ha Sela Ha Edom” or red rock city, the ancient capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd century BC to the 2ndcentury AD. Visit the most interesting carved monuments such as the Treasury (El Khazneh – a tomb of a Nabataean king) to the field of tombs, obelisks, the altar etc. From this point you can view the whole of the rock city.
At the end of the visit, we leave Petra and drive back to Amman for overnight.

Sunday – Amman – Allenby Bridge – Ben Gurion airport
We have reached our final day on this tour.
After breakfast, leave the hotel and drive to Allenby Bridge, cross the Jordan River back to Israel. Drive to the airport for your flight back home

Daily departure from Eilat

Early morning pick up (05.30 am) and drive to Taba border. Cross the border into Egypt and drive through the magnificent Sinai desert. The Sinai is a triangular piece of land inhabited by the Bedouin – the nomadic people of the desert.
As we drive, marvel at the contrast between the different shades of blue of the Red Sea and the varying colors and formations of the mountains of the desert.
Arrive at Saint Catherine’s for a visit to the oldest monastery in the world where the monks still go about their daily chores.
Visit the chamber of skulls and the site of the burning bush.
After lunch, there will be a visit to the rock of inscriptions and, time and weather permitting, a chance to swim in the warm clear waters of the Red Sea.
Return to Eilat.

Daily deparutre from Tel-Aviv & Jerusalem

Pick up at your hotel for a fascinating tour of the holy city of Jerusalem.
We will start with a great panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, pointing out the important sites with a short explanation about the city’s past and present.
Continue for a walking tour of the Old City. We will enter the old walled city on foot through one of the main gates from ancient times.

The tour includes visits to Mount Zion and the ancient Cardo, an integral component of city planning lined with shops and vendors that served as a hub of economic life.
We will pass the Stations of the Cross on the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, incorporating both the Calvary and the Resurrection Tombs.
We will stop at the Western (Wailing) Wall, a section of the wall supporting wall of the Temple Mount that has remained intact since the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD.
The tour continues by car in the New City with a visit to Yad Vashem, the museum of the Holocaust.
At the end of the day, drive back for drop off at your hotel.
