DAY 2 – The Pyramids, The Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara
After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for a full day tour. We will visit the incredible Pyramids. During Egypt’s Old Kingdom, the pharaohs established a stable central government in the fertile Nile Valley. Perhaps the greatest testaments to their power were the pyramids and other tombs built to shelter them in the afterlife.
We continue to see the Sphinx. The greatest monumental sculpture of the ancient world, the Sphinx is carved out of a single ridge of stone 240 feet (73 meters) long and 66 feet (20 meters) high. The head, which has a markedly different texture to the body, and shows far less severe erosion, is a naturally occurring outcrop of harder stone.
We will then visit Memphis, the Greek version of one of the many names the Ancient Egyptians used to denote the city that lay on the border between Upper- and Lower-Egypt, and Sakara, one section of the great necropolis of Memphis, the Old Kingdom capital. The kings of the 1st Dynasty, as well as those of the 2nd Dynasty, are mostly buried in this section.
Overnight: Cairo

DAY 3 – Cairo Old City and The Egyptian Museum
After breakfast at the hotel, we will start our full day tour of Cairo, visiting the Egyptian Museum, which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. The museum displays a rare collection of 5000 years of art that is considered to be the largest and most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world.
The Saladin Citadel is next. This massive stone fortress, set in a beautiful tropical location with magnificent views, was built by Salah ad-Din in the 12th century.
We then visit Synagogue Ben Ezzra, whose “geniza” or store room was found to contain a treasure of abandoned Hebrew secular and sacred manuscripts in the 19th century.
We then continue to Mohamed Ali Mosque, the tomb of Mohammad Ali, which is also known as the Alabaster Mosque because of the extensive use of this fine material from Beni Suef.
Our day will end with a visit to the Old City of Cairo. This small and enclosed area, also known as Coptic Cairo, is the oldest part of the city and was once known as the Roman stronghold of Babylon; some of the old walls still exist. Our last stop will at the famous Khan El Khalil Bazar.
